WordPress Origin Story

I began using WordPress to build client sites way back when I was still a struggling college student in the early 2000s. I started out using page kits, HTML code, and basic JavaScript and after some searching discovered WP. Soon, I began freelancing and building sites for local small business owners and entrepreneurs. As an English major, I was one of the few developers locally who could create sites as well as write all the content for most if not all projects as well as grasp contracts.

Upon graduation, I went on to work for several marketing and ad agencies, then became a copywriter and editor at a few, then started my own small digital marketing agency changing names several times in the process. During that time, I taught workshops and bootcamps on getting started with WP, how to use the CMS, how to design basic sites in one day or less, SEO, eCommerce, integration with plugins, marketing for Non Profit Organizations, principles of content marketing and repurposing and more.
