WordPress Origin Story

My journey in the WordPress community began in 2017, but to better understand how I got here, let me tell you a bit about my background.

Since 2016, I have been working as a freelancer, designing and managing web projects for clients who want to grow their online presence. I use a data-driven approach, meaning I don’t design anything without first having specific data provided by an analyst. This methodology allows me to better justify my design decisions and offer conversion-oriented solutions.

As I delved deeper into the world of web design, I began searching for information and resources about WordPress. To learn more about this platform, I started taking courses and investigating how to do certain things in WordPress. That’s when I discovered the WordPress meetup in Madrid.

I decided to attend my first WordCamp in April 2017. This event marked a turning point in my professional life. Even though I went alone and didn’t know many people, I dared to participate in Contributor Day, specifically at the translations table led by Fernando Tellado. That was my first serious contact with the WordPress community.

A few weeks later, I attended a talk at the Meetup in Collado Villalba and realized that I also had something to contribute. So, the following month, I gave a talk at the Meetup about workation (working while on vacation). Since then, I have been fully involved, giving talks and helping to organize events.

In the WordPress community, I have found a family. I have made incredible friends and had the opportunity to collaborate with people I admire. In 2017, I met Ibon Azkoitia, who organized a WordPress retreat in Chiclana. It was at that event where I also met Pablo Moratinos, with whom I now have the podcast “Un billete a Chattanooga,” which has been on air since 2019.

In addition to being a speaker at many WordCamps and having the pride of hold the world record for the most talks in WordPress events, I have contributed to various teams within the community, from plugin development to Design, Photos, and Translations.

My visibility in the community led me to become a brand ambassador for a Spanish hosting provider specialized in WordPress from 2023 to 2025.

Since 2025, I have collaborated as a content creator for WordPress.com, writing for the Spanish blog, hosting webinars, and giving talks at events sponsored by WordPress.com

What motivates me most to dedicate so much time to the WordPress community is my love for what I do. Yes, it’s true that my business indirectly benefits from my participation, but the real reason is that I immensely enjoy being part of this community. Helping others, constantly learning, and networking are invaluable experiences for me.

This journey in the WordPress community has been incredibly rewarding. I have grown professionally, made lifelong friends, and had the opportunity to contribute to a project that I am truly passionate about. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that when you do what you love and surround yourself with such a fantastic community, success and personal satisfaction are guaranteed.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. See you at the next WordCamp!
