We hired a web designer. 2 weeks before the agreed first publication day of our online magazine they said they could not do the work that they had promised and quoted for 3 months earlier. We were dumped! In a panic we looked for a home-brew solution and found WordPress on GoDaddy and there has been no looking back. Two hardworking weeks later we had our own site and design based on a blog like format. Since then we have upgraded to a more magazine line set up using IssueM and continue getting great results from WordPress and the ecosystem of Plug-Ins. Our only beef is with GoDaddy which serves our pages much too slowly, sometimes with a 7second (yes second, not millisecond) delay before anything starts to work and attempt to resolve our own WordPress compute time. Our own compute time is only a second or so which is bearable, if not quite Google-fast.
