    WordPress Origin Story

    Easy Digital Downloads was born in 2012 out of a simple observation: WordPress had plenty of eCommerce solutions for physical goods, but nothing purpose-built for digital products. We created EDD to fill that gap — a lightweight, developer-friendly plugin focused entirely on selling downloads. What started as a small project quickly became the go-to solution for creators, developers, and businesses selling digital goods on WordPress. Today EDD continues that original mission: making it simple to sell digital products
    without the bloat of a general-purpose eCommerce platform.
