Aotearoa Web Design is just me – Json Koning. I’m a professional WordPress consultant who has made my living building, hosting and maintaining WordPress sites for small businesses across New Zealand for more than ten years.

I formed my company out of the chaos of the Christchurch earthquakes and have grown my business since then, working mostly from my home office. I don’t have a sign-written car or a “a unique selling proposition”, and I don’t wear a suit – my point of difference is that I continuously strive to provide great service and exceptional ongoing support. When you work with Aotearoa Web Design, you work with a real person who knows you and your business, personally.

WordPress Origin Story

I was working for an IT company who were Microsoft only, which really irked me. I battled with my manager to try open source for websites, but he was more concerned with his resume with Microsoft. Eventually (after years of trying) we gave it a go, but unfortunately (for them) not long after the company collapsed. Good for me though, as I was only party-time & had already been freelancing for years (using WordPress for my client sites). Of course all the clients who were with ‘the company’ were now left in the lurch, so overnight I doubled my client base & became full time self-employed. That was 7 years ago & I’ve been busy ever since.
