WordPress Origin Story

I’ve been building websites since everything was laid out via tables. Then CSS came & changed the game – which was quite magical & liberating. One of my friends, was into building sites using WordPress and was evangelizing it to me. I had been blogging on WordPress.com for years but, I really liked the process of building sites from nothing more than a wireframe & a code editor. Anyways, after a while, I got sick of hearing the gospel of WP from said friend & I said fine, the next site I’ll build on WP & never looked back since. Similarly this friend was preaching the glories of the Genesis Framework, after a good period of resistance, I relented & agreed to one site & once again I was a believer & have been building on the Genesis Framework ever since.

Only recently have I begin to ponder & grasp what WordPress’ vision of democratizing publishing means & how that fits into my value paradigm. When I get a little jaded about sitting behind a computer for long periods each day, I reflect on that & the power WordPress/the internet can have in terms of sharing ideas freely and exposing people to ideas, people, places & things they would formerly never have access to. That inspires me to reflect upon what I want to give back to the world & how WordPress can be employed in that endeavor.
